Conversations With Clinicians: Kaye Reeves

We’re back today with another California therapist interview from our Conversations with Clinicians series. Meet Kaye Reeves, a former staff attorney in the California appellate courts who is now working with us as an associate therapist. Kaye is inspired by the growth and change of doing this work. Let’s learn more about working with this therapist, who is located in the Inner Richmond in San Francisco.

What is your therapeutic orientation?

There’s no one way of doing psychotherapy. My therapeutic orientation includes:

and I’ve also been influenced by mindfulness practices and related orientations.

What are your areas of specialty?

What other modalities inform your work?

I have trained in EMDR and clinical hypnosis.

What is it like to work with you?

I strive to be warm, compassionate, relational, and focused on helping my clients achieve their goals, whether they are coming for the long term or prefer a briefer time horizon for our work. Humor sometimes makes a welcome appearance in session!

Who do you LOVE working with?

I love working with adults of all ages who want to explore their growth edges and tender places in a safe, supportive context. I find it a deep privilege to work with culturally diverse individuals and couples.

What most inspires you about doing this work?

What inspires me most is seeing growth and positive change, both in clients and in myself, on a continual basis.

What do you do outside of the work to stay inspired?

Outside of the work, I read widely, walk around the City, and challenge myself to write fiction and learn new skills, such as playing the guitar.

If you could sum up in one sentence why someone might go to therapy, what would you say?

In therapy, you will be seen and heard in ways you may never have experienced before, and the healing that begins in this space can be surprising, gratifying, and seemingly magical.
