My name is Emily. My approach to therapy is warm and relational. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength. I believe in your ability to grow, no matter how challenging the conditions.
What I love about my work is supporting people to function better in their lives and seeing how this change ripples out—creating more wellbeing in the community and wider world.
I am passionate about healing religious and spiritual trauma, supporting LGBTQ people and families, addiction recovery, grief/illness and empowering women facing maternal mental health challenges.
You know how parents and people in helping roles are often overwhelmed and burnout? I support folks to recover and reconnect to their purpose. In therapy with me, we focus on both addressing past harm and stuck patterns, as well as building clarity and skills that support growth in the present.
I offer individual therapy for adults and teens, as well as relationship and family therapy. I work as a therapist in a residential treatment center for substance use, and have a depth of experience supporting people moving through crisis, trauma and patterns of addiction.
I became a therapist after years spent listening closely to people’s stories as a community organizer and hospice chaplain. My own life path has moved through multiple career shifts, marriage, postpartum challenges, parenting, divorce, coming out, and carving out my own path in mental health recovery. All of this informs how I accompany people now.
Healing is possible within us, between people, among communities, and across the living systems we belong to. My work is shaped by liberation movements for racial, economic, gender and environmental justice.
I’m not here to fix you. I’m here to be with you in what’s real, to hold space for the questions that may not have quick answers, and listen for what is true beneath the noise.
