Yağmur Akay
LMFT

I provide compassionate and insight-oriented guidance to facilitate healing. My sessions often feel warm and interactive - and sometimes, even fun. In therapy, when there is safety and comfort, a wide range of emotions come up - from sorrow to joy.
Early in therapy, I will do a lot of listening and guide the sessions in a way to get to know your inner experience. Then, I like to discuss goals (which may change as we work together). Often, I assist individuals in developing coping strategies to manage overwhelming situations and support the long-term healing of trauma.
I’m a Turkish woman and a first generation immigrant. I am a culturally-sensitive therapist who utilizes a liberation framework - this means I pay close attention to how culture shapes people.
I offer weekly or twice weekly appointments via telehealth.
