Dr. Stephanie Weissman
I provide compassionate, creative, intelligent support so my clients can make the change they want in their lives. My approach is humanistic and relational. As we develop a relationship, we will delve into your situation at whatever depth and pace makes sense for you. I work with both adults and children in essentially this way: With respect, care, and curiosity.
The better I come to know you, the better I can draw on my own knowledge, experience, and insight to support you in making the change you want in your life. Sometimes seeing your situation from a new angle can make all the difference.
If you are experiencing specific symptoms or behaviors that are causing distress (anxiety, depression, PTSD, phobias, rumination, etc), I have a large toolkit that we can use with the goal of alleviating your immediate suffering.
I bring a lot of experience to my work: Before becoming a therapist I raised a family and practiced law for 25 years. I also love the arts and sciences, nature, dogs, and children. If you like to think out loud, we can talk. If you think in images, you might enjoy working in the sand tray, or with pen and paper. If you’d like to think about a symptom from a neurological perspective, we can do that, too.
When working with younger people, they often prefer to build relationship while doing things they enjoy, such as drawing or playing games. As they come to trust me, I look for doors where their own strengths and interests can lead through to resolving the difficulties they've been having.
The only way to know if a therapist is the right fit for you is to try them out. If it seems like I might be a good fit for you, please email or give me a call. I would be happy to provide a free consultation.
If you haven’t had therapy before, know that the simple act of reaching out to talk to someone can impact your life in a positive way. It’s never too late for change, and there has never been a better time for therapy.
Warm regards,
Juliette
