Change is the only constant. Whether it’s a chosen pivot in your career, an unexpected loss, a major life transition, or a subtle yet profound shift in your identity, navigating these moments can feel isolating and overwhelming. Too often, we rely solely on our minds to process these seismic events, leaving the body and spirit behind. This disconnect can lead to feeling stuck, anxious, or unable to fully “arrive at their new normal”.
The Center for Mindful Psychotherapy is excited to share the launch of The Change Circle, a 6-week therapeutic group series designed to address this very human experience. Led by Karen Baker, a trusted clinician and former Associate Therapist with CMP, this group offers a unique, embodied path to integrating life’s transformations.
Why Change Requires a Circle
Change, whether chosen or forced, can serve as a potent catalyst for growth, healing, and insight. However, the process of transformation is rarely a straight line; it often feels more like a meandering, circular journey. This is where the power of community becomes essential. Working through change, in community, can amplify reflection, healing, and transformation.
Karen Baker, LMFT, is a holistic psychotherapist who regards symptoms not as problems to be fixed, but as “calls for deeper care and exploration”. Her approach serves as a bridge between ancient healing wisdom and modern evidence-based practices, welcoming all facets of your identity and life experiences. As a compassionate guide, she works with clients to bring awareness to the interconnectedness of mind, body, and spirit , fostering a return to a sense of wholeness. Her practice is a nuanced collaboration, incorporating various psychotherapeutic methods and wisdom traditions, supporting clients in listening to these inner calls and uncovering new narratives and possibilities for their journey ahead.
A Holistic Exploration Process
This 6-week series is structured to gently guide participants through the different phases of transition. It moves beyond simple discussion by incorporating holistic, integrative practices:
- Somatic Practices: The process incorporates a flow of somatic practices, helping you to use physical sensations, posture, and movement to access and process the stored energy of stress and transition.
- Archetypal Explorations: The process utilizes universal themes to expand personal narratives and explore the collective themes of change.
- Personal Sharing: In a safe and intentional container, participants can honor and integrate transitions, losses, gains, and identity shifts.
Karen’s commitment to somatic work is deeply rooted, stemming from her Master’s degree in Somatic Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies and her extensive background in healing arts like Rosen Method Bodywork and Yoga. She views this path as one of uncovering the wisdom that heals and fosters resilience.
