If you're here, you're probably not at a great place in your life. This could be the result of any of a number of factors, including: job stress, relationship challenges, pandemic isolation, societal oppression, trauma, and, of course, early psychological wounding. I believe that healing requires, first and foremost, a supportive, empathetic therapeutic relationship (indeed, studies have shown that the strongest predictor of success in therapy is the quality of that relationship). Thus, my job is to try to help you find what was missing, be it attention, compassion, understanding, validation, acceptance, or simply the space to be and to express who you are and what you're feeling.
I'm from New York, and I would describe myself as a straight shooter. It took quite a while for me to figure out what I wanted to do when I grew up, so I know what it is to "career from career to career." Because I have extensive life experience (i.e., I'm old), along with my background in the law, I am able to step back and see multiple sides of an issue, though I will always begin from your perspective. In this vein, you will never have a stronger advocate. Together, we will look at your experiences not only with clear eyes, but with compassion and, sometimes, a dose of humor (sometimes, the best we can do is laugh). As you process your experiences more fully in our sessions, you will begin to grieve more fully, and I believe that unresolved grief is at the heart of most psychic pain.
I work particularly well with people who have difficulty advocating for themselves in relationships, along with people who have parenting issues - either as parents or children. In addition, I also welcome people who have grown up in environments of toxic or stoic - i.e., unemotional - masculinity.
