When you’ve got a lot going on, it’s easy to put yourself last. If you’re trying to explore the nuances of your identity, deal with the impacts of past traumas, or learn how to feel more connected in your relationships—on top of all your existing responsibilities and daily tasks—you may not know where to start. But the good news is that you don’t have to do this work alone.
I create an environment in virtual or in-person sessions where you can feel heard and seen in all the complexity of your identities and experiences. Through therapy you can learn to recognize your patterns and practice making shifts that will bring you closer to the life you want and deserve.
As a therapist, I have helped clients build self-compassion, manage the impacts of trauma, practice new ways of communicating, find community, and access greater joy in life. In my work with queer and trans clients, I’ve supported explorations of gender identity and sexuality, and all the feelings that can come up around that. My training in social work helps me pay attention to power dynamics and systems of oppression, and I believe these factors have a significant impact on mental health.
I may shift my approach based on your individual needs, and I aim to check in early and often about how things are going: I want you to know why we’re doing what we’re doing in therapy, and how that moves you towards your goals.
As you search for a therapist, it may take some time to find the right fit. You can find more information about how I work at escuderomsw.com. I encourage you to reach out, and we can start talking about your hopes for therapy to see if we might work well together. I look forward to hearing from you.
