A Little About Me

If you are unsure about how “Talk Therapy” could help you, I might be a good fit for you. I am a holistic therapist who combines body-based approaches to facilitate healing from cumulative stress or trauma.

Teaching Yoga & Meditation and providing Bodywork & Reiki over the last 14 years, I have witnessed deep emotional healing of numerous people when they opened up to felt-sense experiences in their bodies. This informed the idea that the more connected we are to our own bodies, the more resilient we become. Recent neuroscientific findings support this idea. Fascinated by scientific support, I have added more body-based therapy tools; Trauma Releasing Exercises, Hakomi Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, and Brainspotting.

Neuroscience also shows it is critical for our healing and wellbeing to be connected with other people. My goal is to help my clients reconnect to their own bodies and their innate healing potential, and to people in their lives such as family and friends who support them outside of the therapy room. Sessions are customized to each client using different tools to best fit their needs. A client’s feedback is always encouraged and will be integrated into the sessions.

My personal background informs my practice is I am an immigrant from Japan and hold multicultural values. For the past 20 years, I have been tinkering with the balance between Asian/Collectivistic values and American/Individualistic values, so I can stay as authentic as possible. Thus I want to support individuals & families who have been facing challenges for their unique and complex values, within themselves, with their family members, with people at work or schools, or with the society at large. My hope is to assist these individuals and families to embrace and celebrate their uniqueness while they maintain harmony and meaningful connections with important people in their lives, instead of dishonoring their-authentic-selves by conforming themselves simply to meet expectations from others.
