Conversations with Clinicians: Interview with Associate Therapist Caroline Lee

Welcome back to Conversations with Clinicians where we interview one of our associate therapists. We like to give you this opportunity to learn more about the way that they work. Moreover, they give us some great tips and resources that we hope you’ll find helpful. Today, meet Caroline Lee. She is a California-based associate therapist providing Telehealth therapy.

What is your therapeutic orientation?

Somatic Psychology

What are your areas of specialty?

What other modalities inform your work?

Yoga and photography

What is it like to work with you? How would you (or clients) say you are in the room?

relational, warm, very little about me but I do include some psychoeducation when helpful

Who do you LOVE working with?

  • non-traditional family systems
  • people trying to decide if they want to have a child
  • people in grief

What most inspires you about doing this work? What do you do outside of the work to stay inspired?

Being in a space where curiosity and presence is key.

Living an honest life [since we’re all going to die]. I am also a death doula, so mortality informs a lot of my work and my life, too.

If you could sum up in one sentence why someone might go to therapy, what would you say?

Creating a space to name things that have happened, how you felt and how you feel and make meaning around those things so that your life is more enjoyable, more intentional and so that you can feel the freedom of knowing things are so rarely personal.

What is one thing that clients might be surprised to learn about you?

I’m the oldest of 6 kids.

What is one takeaway moment that you’d like to share from your own experience as a client in therapy?

I’ve been in therapy for 19 years and there have been so many profound moments. It is where I have learned to listen and learned to communicate about my own experience and feelings.
